The peel off lip tint fad has passed but it’s still one of my favorite products for bright long lasting lip colors (and now it’s cheaper!). There are a lot of different version on the market but my favorites are the original Berrisiom My lip tint packs. These are fun juicy colors that smell just as juicy! They last without transferring or disappearing after food and fade pretty evenly over the course of a few days (good or bad depending on your preference). When you are ready to remove, just use a lip scrub or little bit of oil to remove completely. Wear them on their own or layer them under a bright lipstick so you can go all day without worrying about re-application. Peel tints have a little bit of a learning curve, to little makes for a patchy application and too much takes forever to dry. Here is a quick step by step to help you along:
- Before application exfoliate your lips. Take a q-tip and completely dry the lips, this will ensure even tinting.
- Apply a thick layer quickly: I start with the bottom lip and smack my lip together will it’s still very wet, then shape my top lip. If you mess up just use a q-tip to correct. You can also use a lip brush for extra precision. You don’t need to leave you mouth wide open will drying, lips parted will do.
- Wait until it’s completely dry ~10-15 minutes and peel it off !
- The inner lip sometimes doesn’t dry completely from the moisture of your mouth so use a q-tip to wipe off the extra product (Do not lick it, tastes awful). You can leave it just like that or what I do is apply a light balm/gloss and use a similar colored lip pencil to give me a perfect long lasting bright lip.
I only have 4 colors from a pack sold in Korea but 6 color packs with an additional peach and blackberry color are easy to find. To keep the tints at their best consistency, make sure you twist the cap tight and store upside down. I’ve noticed that some of the colors have a different texture than others, but overall they all still leave an even tint (with one exception, see below). A quick warning: these tints have a heavy amount of alcohol in them, lips should be dry but do it gently as cuts will sting. On to the swatches:
Pure Pink – On the skin, it’s a pure bubble gum pink. This leaves a soft & natural pink hue to the lips. If you have very pigmented lips it will just change the tone. This color applies easily and leaves an even tint.
Bubble Pink – Less bubble gum pink and more fuschia. Beautiful bright color out of the tube but left an extremely patchy color, easily the worst of the bunch. This color catches on dry patches and was not as pigmented as it looked like it would turn out.
Virgin Red – A classic bright red. The application was a little bit stickier than other colors. Despite the patchy application, it left a very even pink-red tint. Through the course of a few days, it faded quite evenly from the lips.
Vivid Scarlet – A bright orangey red color. This one had a very smooth application. It sticks a little bit to dry patches but overall quite even finish. If your lips are pink-toned it will leave a red finish; less pigmented lips will have an orange finish.
